Birth Photography
The day you welcome your baby into the world is the most important day of your life, an even greater day than your wedding day. It surpasses every thing you’ve ever done, No matter how or where you give birth, it’s one of the few things in life that can never be staged or recreated. It’s a day that deserves to be documented.
My photos of women in labour are empowering. I document the beauty, the wonder and emotion of birth and help women to understand and feel proud of their experience. Birth is many things, rewarding, hard work, beautiful, messy, exhausting, and yes, graphic. After all, new life entering the world, souls meeting - that’s life-changing stuff!
I like to capture the emotions in the room, the tiny details which are often forgotten. The way your partner looks at you in awe as you labour, the tears of joy as you meet your baby for the first time. Time passes, we remember the feeling, but we can’t remember the details. Eventually our birth stories become shorter and shorter.
